TEN COMMANDMENTS
(for students in introductory Philosophy courses and Humanities)
 

(1) Thou shalt not misspell words.

(2) Thou shalt not employ incomplete sentences.

(3) Thou shalt employ no construction in which a pronoun and its antecedent do not agree, nor shalt thou employ a pronoun with no antecedent.

(4) Thou shalt construct no sentence in which the subject and the verb do not agree.

(5) Thou shalt employ neither comma splices nor run-on sentences.

(6) Thou shalt not confuse singular and plural possessives.

(7) Thou shalt not employ unclear, awkward constructions.

(8) Thou shalt not switch tenses.

(9) Thou shalt not split infinitives.

(lO) Thou shalt end no sentence with a preposition.
